Help Ali and His Family in North Gaza
Canada
My name is Giselle Ruemke-Leigh, and I am creating this campaign on behalf of theater director and actor, Ali Abu Yassin. He writes:
“My family, my children and grandchildren and I have been displaced several times since October 2023, but we finally came back to our home at Shate’ Refugee Camp at Northern Gaza. We are 24 people now living in our house, which is partially demolished, but still somewhat liveable.
Life is so harsh. There is almost no food available, but some flour and spices, nothing else. We all suffer malnutrition. I have high blood pressure, my children and grandchildren have variable diseases, including visual issues, low hemoglobin/anemia and iron deficiency, and respiratory problems. The little amount of food in the market is extremely expensive, and far beyond our capacity to pay.
The water is polluted also. We get 50 litres of water daily, but it is not clean. We get salt water for our hygeine needs, but water for drinking and cooking is needed. We do not have any electricity, and the drones fly overhead constantly.
When we were displaced, we lived in UNWRA schools and in tents. We survived by chance, as others near us were killed. We were so close to death many times. We still are surviving by chance. Every day is a prospect for death.”
Will you help Ali and his family access food and clean water? Please donate what you are able, even smaller amounts can help when we all contribute. And please share this campaign!
Thank you so much!
